ResuMintAI ("we," "us") provides an AI-assisted resume tailoring service. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have. By using ResuMintAI, you agree to the practices described here.

1. Information We Collect

• Account information: your email address, a securely hashed password (we never store your password in plain text), and the country you select at signup, used only to determine your pricing region.
• Resume and job description content: when you use the tailoring tool, we process the text of your resume and the job description you paste in order to generate tailored output. This content is sent to our AI provider for processing (see "AI Processing" below) and is not stored on our servers after your request completes.
• Usage data: we keep a record that a tailoring attempt happened — a timestamp, tied to your account or an anonymous identifier — so we can enforce free-trial limits. We do not store the content of what you tailored in this record.
• Anonymous identifier: before you create an account, we use a secure, randomly generated cookie to track your free-trial usage. This cookie identifies a browser, not a person, and is never used for advertising or tracking across other sites.
• Payment information: if you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment is handled directly by Stripe or Razorpay. We never see or store your full card number.

2. AI Processing — Please Read This

To tailor your resume, your resume text and the job description are sent to a third-party AI model provider. We are currently using free-tier AI models (via OpenRouter) while this product is in its early stage. Some free-tier providers' terms permit them to log requests to help improve their own models — this is a real, disclosed tradeoff of running on free infrastructure right now, not something we've hidden. We plan to move to a paid AI provider with stricter data-handling terms as the product grows, and we'll update this policy when we do. If you'd rather not take that risk while we're on the free tier, we'd suggest avoiding sensitive personal details beyond what's normally in a resume.

We never send your resume anywhere other than the AI provider we use for tailoring and our own systems. We do not sell your data, and we do not use it for advertising.

3. How We Use Your Information

• To provide and operate the tailoring service
• To verify your email and secure your account
• To enforce free-trial limits and prevent abuse
• To process payments and manage your subscription
• To send you transactional emails (verification codes, receipts, service updates) — we don't send marketing email without your consent

4. Data Retention

• Resume and job description content is not retained after your request completes — we don't currently store uploaded resumes or pasted job descriptions on our servers.
• Account data is retained for as long as your account is active, and deleted upon request.
• Usage records (used only to enforce trial limits) are retained as long as needed for that purpose, tied to your account.

5. Cookies

We use two functional cookies: one to keep you signed in, and one to track anonymous free-trial usage before you create an account. Neither is used for advertising or cross-site tracking.

6. Your Rights

You can request a copy of the personal data we hold about you, or request that we delete your account and associated data, via our contact form. We'll respond within a reasonable time, generally within 30 days. If you're in a region with specific data-protection rights (for example, the EU's GDPR or India's DPDP Act), those rights apply to you as provided by law.

7. Data Location

Our systems and the third-party providers we rely on (AI processing, email delivery, payments) may process data in countries other than your own, including the United States. By using ResuMintAI, you consent to this transfer.

8. Children's Privacy

ResuMintAI is not directed at children under 18. We don't knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

9. Security

We use industry-standard practices to protect your data, including hashed passwords and encrypted connections. No system is 100% secure, and we can't guarantee absolute security.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the product evolves. We'll update the "Last updated" date above when we do; significant changes will be communicated by email or a notice on the site.
